A native of tropical rainforests, these wacky pitcher plants are a botanical curiosity which is bound to draw attention and make an unusual feature in their hanging planter. Also known by the name ‘monkey cups’, it was once thought that monkeys drunk water from their pitchers! The pitchers hang down from tendrils growing from the leaf tips and are full of digestive juices. Insects are attracted by sweet-smelling nectar within the lid of the pitcher and then lose their footing on its slippery lips, tumbling down into the pool of digestive juices below.
These eye-catching Nepenthes sanguinea hybrids have attractive pink patterning on their pitchers. One of the easier Nepenthes types to grow, enjoy this fascinating plant in your kitchen, bathroom or any sunny windowsill. Height: 40cm (16”). Spread: 30cm (12”).Height: 40cm (16”). Spread: 30cm (12”).
