If you want to create a real talking point in your home, try this unusual, tropical house plant! Its fruits are instantly recognisable in the supermarket, but how often do you see them actually growing on the plant?
Ananas comosus is a terrestrial bromeliad, producing a wide rosette of dramatic, sword-like foliage. Its coarsely-toothed leaves have an attractive arching habit that makes a fine architectural plant. Like other Bromeliads, this evergreen is capable of purifying the air, removing harmful toxins from your home.
In summer, it produces cones of purple flowers with bright red bracts that make a spectacular display. The flowers are followed by fruits which gradually grow up to 30cm (12”) tall after 7-8 months!
There’s no denying it – Pineapples take patience; so we’ll give you a head start with a young plant that has already begun to form a fruit! Perfect for creating a focal point on a sunny windowsill or a bright conservatory! Height and spread: 90cm (36″).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.
